The Devoted Barn is a program of Devoted Friends Animal Society, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the lives of the companion animals we love.   Devoted Friends Animal Society received its 501(c)3 non-profit status in 2010.  The mission of DFAS is to help companion animals like dogs, cats, and equine find their forever homes.  Through rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption, DFAS commits to the animals for their entire lives.

The Devoted Barn is an animal rescue and rehabilitation facility.  We take in animals of all kinds from cruelty, neglect, and large scale hoarding cases. We help animals that are unowned and/or that need urgent medical attention.  We also have a large feral dog program.  These animals come to The Devoted Barn to heal both physically and emotionally.  They learn to trust and love again, or for the first time.  In addition to helping the animals, our mission is to also teach compassion & empathy to others through working with our animals.

The Devoted Barn began on a piece of property in Newport, MI. Before purchasing the original barn in August of 2013 it had been unused for a few years and was in pretty rough shape.  There are 30 stalls, one large 10 acre pasture, a large indoor area, and a small paddock. Although the barn in Newport provided us with the opportunity to get the rescue up running and help so many animals, after six years the need to expand was evident.  We needed somewhere to create a sanctuary for all of our animals, especially the ones that cannot be rehabilitated to a normal home environment.

The new Sanctuary is located in Holly, MI on just over 50 acres.  With 4 ponds, creeks, numerous pastures for our horses, cows, llamas/Alpacas, sheep and goats, our piggy area, two barns, a dog room and a feral dog room, it provides a wonderful facility for all of our animals.    The Sanctuary will focus on rehabilitation of our animals that can move on to homes and will also create the perfect forever home for our dogs that are incontinent, our feral dogs that can't move to that next step and our hogs, cows, horses and other animals that can't safely be placed. These animals come to us looking for the home they deserve.  Well, we finally found the perfect farm to be our sanctuary, our forever home.  Now the animals are living each day in a little slice of heaven that each of the animals deserve.
